Chiropractic For Everyone

Chiropractor Belfast

Personalised chiropractic care from Belfast's leading chiropractic team.

At Belfast Wellness Clinic, our team of four experienced chiropractors assesses and treats problems affecting the joints, muscles and surrounding tissues, with particular expertise in back pain, neck pain, pregnancy care and sports-related conditions.

Founded in 1988, our clinic (previously known as Belfast Chiropractic Clinic) has provided chiropractic care to generations of individuals and families across Belfast and Northern Ireland. Our chiropractors combine extensive clinical experience with different specialist interests, giving clients access to one of the broadest ranges of chiropractic expertise in Belfast.

We use appropriate hands-on care alongside exercise, rehabilitation and practical guidance. Rather than applying the same treatment to everyone, we take time to understand your symptoms, lifestyle and goals before recommending a personalised plan.

Located on the Ormeau Road, our clinic is close to Belfast city centre and easily accessible from South Belfast and the surrounding area.

Chiropractic For Everyone

What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession concerned with the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal problems - conditions affecting the joints, muscles, ligaments and nerves.

Although chiropractors are particularly well known for treating back and neck problems, they also assess pain, stiffness and restricted movement affecting other parts of the body.

Treatment may involve gentle, specific hands-on techniques intended to improve joint movement and ease muscular tension. Your chiropractor may also recommend exercises, postural changes and other ways to support your recovery between appointments.

Our aim is to help you:

  • understand what may be contributing to your symptoms
  • move with greater comfort and confidence
  • return to work, exercise or everyday activities
  • build strength and mobility
  • reduce the likelihood of recurring problems
  • take an active role in managing your health

Conditions our Belfast chiropractors commonly assess

People consult our chiropractors with a wide variety of musculoskeletal concerns, including:

  • acute or persistent back pain
  • neck pain and stiffness
  • headaches associated with the neck
  • shoulder pain and restricted movement
  • hip and knee discomfort
  • sciatica and referred pain
  • joint and muscular stiffness
  • sports and exercise-related injuries
  • postural or work-related discomfort
  • whiplash-associated problems
  • tennis elbow and other overuse injuries
  • plantar heel pain
  • reduced movement or confidence following injury
  • age-related changes affecting mobility

Pain can have several possible causes, so your first appointment includes a careful assessment rather than an assumption that chiropractic treatment is automatically appropriate.

If your chiropractor believes that further investigation, imaging or another form of healthcare is required, they will discuss the appropriate next step with you.

What happens at your first appointment?

Your chiropractor will begin by listening to what has brought you to the clinic. They will ask about your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, activity levels and what you want to be able to do more comfortably.

An appropriate physical examination may then assess areas such as:

  • posture and everyday movement
  • spinal and joint mobility
  • muscle strength and flexibility
  • balance and coordination
  • neurological function where relevant
  • particular movements that reproduce your symptoms

Your chiropractor will explain their findings in clear language and answer your questions. If chiropractic care is suitable, you will discuss the recommended approach, possible alternatives and what you can reasonably expect. Treatment will usually begin in the first session, with your consent.

Chiropractic For Everyone

A personalised approach to treatment

Our four Belfast chiropractors bring different experience, interests and clinical techniques. Your care may include a combination of:

  • chiropractic adjustments or mobilisation
  • gentle joint and soft-tissue techniques
  • massage and trigger-point work
  • fascial techniques
  • dry needling where appropriate
  • Kinesio taping
  • movement and postural guidance
  • graded rehabilitation exercises
  • advice for work, home, sport and daily activities

Not every technique is appropriate for every person. Treatment is adapted to your age, health, preferences and comfort.

We believe education is an important part of chiropractic care. Understanding your problem and knowing what you can do between appointments can help you become more confident and take an active role in your recovery.

How many appointments will I need?

This depends on the nature and duration of your problem, your overall health and what you want to achieve.

Some people consult us about a recent problem and require a relatively short course of care. Others have longstanding or recurring symptoms that require a more gradual approach.

Your chiropractor will explain the recommended plan and review your progress. You will not be expected to commit to an indefinite course of treatment, and you can discuss or reconsider your care at any stage.
